OOPS, I FORGOT ABOUT AUSTRALIA... ...BUT SO HAS EVERYONE ELSE Oh yeah, Australia. i forgot. so after Frisco and a few lost days in Los An i grabbed a Qantas flight down to Melbourne to attend MUFF, the melbourne underground fist fuck -er, film festival. a friend of an aussie friend had warned me that the director of MUFF is a white power fascist and that there are Boycott MUFF signs all over the city, but i wasn't going to let a little thing like that stop me. besides, my Jewish friends in toronto all told me i should go down and see for myself exactly what's what. after all, i have been called a fascist myself in my day simply for making pornographic movies which fetishize neo-nazi skinheads. not to oversimplify, but jerking off to a neo-nazi white power skinhead doesn't make you one. i mean, if you jerk off to a peroxide blond with huge fake titties, does that make you a peroxide blond with huge fake titties? i think not. anyhow, if MUFF's director, Richard Wolstencroft (what a name! is he descended from a long line of werewolves or something?), is a fascist, he's not a very successful one, considering the fact that, as i discovered within the first five minutes of talking to him, that he is neither racist nor homophobic. you'll have to try harder than that, richard! apparently what he is, however, is a "transcendental fascist", which conjures up images of a guy with a brush cut wearing jack boots in the lotus position on a yoga mat. oooh, scary. the big controversy happened last year when richard tried to program a videotape of a holocaust denier named david irving, precipitating quite the edna st. vincent melee. some people defended his right to show the tape on the basis of free speech, while others tried to boycott and/or shut down the festival altogether. (the screening never took place because the owners of the building which housed the theatre padlocked it.) well, after all, it is an underground film festival, and you can't get much more underground than holocaust denying, inshallah, may it stay that way. here's what one critic, albert fung, on the website "senses of cinema", had to say about it: "Another well-known characteristic of MUFF is Festival director Richard Wolstencroft's enthusiasm for quoting the likes of Heidegger and his consistently problematic philosophical musing in his director's statement. Perhaps Wolstencroft should speak with people who've been working in factories for most of their lives on a minimum wage and see what they think of the idea of “transcendental fascism”. touche. apparently transcendental fascism is something thought up by our old friend boyd rice, who apparently used to hang around neo-Nazi types back in the good old days of punk as a joke but then kind of started losing sight of the fact that it was supposed to be ironic until one day he woke up and presto change-o he was a fascist. you got to be careful about that kind of thing. to add insult to injury, mr. rice has starred in one of mr. wolstencroft's feature films. i guess transcendental fascism, or tf, has something to do with thinking that some people are superior to others and should therefore be running the world. kind of like the bush administration. i told richard it sounded like ayn rand, the virtue of selfishness, that sort of thing, but he didn't know who ayn rand was. i told him he should read atlas shrugged which i began reading in 1912 and just finished last week on the beach. (i'm kidding. i read it in high school, which is the only time ayn rand should be read.) getting back to accusations of fascism against me, it was xtra magazine, toronto's gay newspaper, that accused me of playing for the brownshirts with my movie skin flick, comparing me to none other than leni reifenstahl herself. i took it as a compliment, as xtra sucks. one minor fault in their argument: fascists hate fags (Night of the Long Knives, anyone?), and i made a gay porno movie about them. not the best way to support the cause. long story short, the indictment by xtra tipped of the B'nai Brith society, who called the police, who sent the Morality Squad (sounds very Third Reich to me) to check out the movie when Pleasuredome hosted a screening at the Metro on Bloor, toronto's last remaining porn theatre, now, sadly, defunct. two members of the morality squad with shaved heads checked out the movie and afterwards said they weren't going to press hate-crime charges against me. when asked by a member of pleasuredome if they at least enjoyed the movie, one of the suspiciously skinhead-looking cops responded "it had its moments", one of my best reviews so far. anyway, richard was a nice enough guy, and a very good host. he and his friends shared some lines with me in a cramped car in a back alley like some characters out of a cheap mafia exploitation movie after my screening, so what more could you ask for? another reason I doubt that he's anti-semetic has to do with the fact that the guest of honour and head of the jury this year was William Lustig, director of such classic horror exploitation classics as Maniac and Maniac Cop, who, if I'm not very much mistaken, is jewish. he had some stories to tell, let me tell you, but i can't relate them to you right now because i'm late for a screening of Hero....

Mentre TJ stava morendo al Chilfren's Hospital di Sidney all'una di notte di domenica, la notizia si è sparsa a Sidney e nei territori aborigeni come un incendio nella prateria; i poliziotti avevano dato la caccia a un ragazzo aborigeno e l'avevano ucciso. Shane Phillips, della Tribal Warrior Association, ha detto di conoscere due testimoni, pronti a testimoniare che la polizia stava dando la caccia a TJ pochi minuti prima della sua morte. Questa testimonianza è fortemente contestata. Un testimone apparso ieri ha detto che l'accusa che la polizia aveva cacciato TJ è basata più su dicerie che su fatti. Sembra che il passante che ha chiamato l'ambulanza e ha fermato la polizia dopo che è stato scoperto TJ sulla rete sappia come si sono svolti i fatti e perché la polizia sia venuta a prenderlo e perché corresse così forte. Il commissario della polizia del NSW Ken Moroney, e il comandante Bob Waites e i due poliziotti che sono arrivati sul posto, insistono che non stavano cercando TJ prima che morisse. Invece, affermano che stavano percorrendo le strade vicine cercando borseggiatori che non corrispondono alla descrizione del morto e che sono stati fermati da un passante che aveva sentito i lamenti del giovane che moriva. Ma nel tardo pomeriggio di domenica i piani per la vendetta avevano preso corpo dopo un giorno di calura, umidità e alcol. L'alcol e le violenze della polizia hanno fatto sì che comparissero spingendo carretti carichi di munizioni, tanto da dimostrare di essere una forza insormontabile. Molotov e razzi sono piovuti sui poliziotti, 40 sui quali sono rimasti ferti, anche con fratture. La stazione di Redfern è stata incendiata e i vagoni bruciati. I genitori guardavano senza potere, e spesso senza volere, portare la calma. Quando questa è tornata, alle due del mattino, erano stati operati solo 5 arresti. Ieri mattina, vetri rotti e pietre sono stati tolti dagli operai. Ma non possono fare niente per attenuare il dolore di una comunità che, nonostante il lavoro per risistemare i rapporti con la polizia, rimane povera, amareggiata e in lutto per il diciassettene. "Sono sconvolta da quel che la polizia ha fatto a mio figlio," dice la madre di TJ Gail Hickey . "Ho sempre cercato di proteggere mio figlio dai poliziotti." Il luogo della morte di TJ è all'ombra di due torri comunali di abitazione che ormai simboleggiano il sud impoverito e la litania di tensioni razziali, violenza, crimine e droga ad esse associate. Bello, onesto, emigrato Australia....spererebbe nella vittoria dell'Italia, e invece no; ma mentre dalle nostre parti ci si scatenava a forza di Biscardate e pubblici deliri da bar dello sport, gli emigrati di Melbourne, vecchie origini nella Magna Grecia, provocavano tafferugli e disordini alla faccia del fair play e del buon senso. Frattanto Totti e compagnia protestante spaccavano gli spogliatoi del megalitico stadio coreano, grande esempio di civiltà sportiva per tutte le generazioni presenti e future, inutile sfogo che potevano sfogare durante i novanta e + minuti dell'incontro. Ritornando nel paese dei canguri, orde di paisà bandiera al collo e baffo nero ribaltano macchine, incendiano taxi, fanno brutto non solo ai coreani, presenti veramente in numero esiguo da quelle parti, ma piuttosto a tutti i cittadini dall'occhio un po' a mandorla che si presentano in strada, insomma, guerra aperta alla comunità cinese. Bravi bravi bravi italiani, italiani brava gente!

(mischiando Australia, Bar dello Sport, e Condoglianze eccellenti): autoscontri a gran effetto scenico al GP di F1 di Melbourne, ma i sistemi di sicurezza tutelano tuttavia i piloti... mentre non vengono tutelati dai pur conforts dei loro macchinoni i calciatori Mero e Mayelé... e ci lassa, in crepacuore da retrocessione, anche nonna cecchigori, la centenaria più viola d'itaglia...

australia, terra di grandi spazi.... frontiera della libbbbbertàààà anglosassone.... e in tutta 'sta libertà, dei bei gabbioni per uomini e vecchine che fanno ciao alla telecamerina del cameraman che filma questa nuova frontiera della (dis)umanità... qualcosa mi fa pensare che stavolta gli States si faranno i cazzi loro: le donne tenute in gabbia non indossano il burqa...

probabilmente schifata dall'uso italiano della mostra australiana "The lie of the hearth" ad Arenzano sabato scorso... SIDNEY BRUCIA circondata di fiamme da ogni lato in periodo di ventosa siccità come succede qua da noi, ma i paesi anglosassoni sembrano carburare meglio: vedi quanto accaduto negli USA col celeberrimo rogo di interi quartieri di villette circa 2 anni fa... come cantava Bob Quadrelli "bruciano bene quelli che hanno qualcosa"...

la mostra si intitola THE LIES OF THE HEART e prosegue credo per tutta l'annata accademica, e pare addirittura che una costola dell'iniziativa si venga a impiantare in questa ligure terra selvaggia e tutto sommato un po' aborigena (andate a parlare con qualche vecchietto di montagna, e credo non si notino molte differenze dalle cosiddette popolazioni primitive)

dai primi racconti dell'artista rimasto da poco tornato nella sua Australia: - in Australia sotto la sabbia della larga fetta di territorio desertica ci sarebbero dei superlombricazzi da 6 metri tipo quelli di Dune (se qualcuno del Forum ha notizie di questi esseri abnormi, mandi conferma) - all'Università di Melbourne si occupano di Arte Megalitica delle culture non occidentali cercando paralleli con quella che in occidente i fighetti intellettuali chiamano Land Art
